Finding Balance

One question I am always asking the Universe is “how do I balance my earthly self and my spiritual self?”  Most of the time those two sides seem polarized and at odds.  My human self feels so limited and dense most of the time and my spiritual self feels expansive, limitless and free.  The answer that came through intuitive

guidance today was this:

IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE AND LIVE THE PRACTICE OF BALANCE, IT MEANS DROPPING THE WALLS OF COMPARTMENTALISM WHERE YOU LIVE UNDER THE ILLUSION OF CONTROL.

HOW CAN YOU EXPECT TO FEEL THE INTERCONNECTEDNESS OF ALL LIFE IF YOU ARE SHUTTING YOURSELF OFF AND BUILDING WALLS TO PROTECT YOUR HEART?

As I read this message several times, the truth reveals itself, showing me that by even asking the question “how do I balance my earthly self and spiritual self?” I am judging myself.  Deep down I believe that I am not in balance, I never will be in balance because my emotions and thoughts shift and move constantly through time.

When I lived on a ship for almost three years, I learned that balance is a temporary state with constant fluctuation, shifting and adjusting.  We were designed with an internal balancing system that we can access when the rolling waters of change are moving beneath our feet.  Yet we must also accept that the art of balancing happens only for a brief moment between states of imbalance.

It does no good to judge our blocks or try to force a different outcome than what is actually occurring.  Judgment only solidifies negative qualities and experiences, becoming even more of a dense, stagnant energy in the mind.  Acceptance of what is, is the way through every block.  Letting go of the need to control and understand everything.  Many things are beyond our limited understanding.  Yet we are a part of the divine plan and connected to all life.

So now I feel the need to reframe my question.  “What is the practice of balancing?”

BALANCING IS THE SPIRITUAL STATE OF BEING OUT OF BALANCE

WHILE STILL REMAINING UPRIGHT.

One way to maintain equilibrium is to practice breathwork every day.  Breathwork immediately brings awareness to an area within you that needs attention or an adjustment.  It is a therapeutic process that can bypass the mind and go straight to the core of the issue.  You don’t have to control the process or make anything happen.  There is a natural flow of energy as the body enters a state of hyperoxygenation and you go into a meditative trance.  In the trance you have access to guidance from your higher self, and solutions will often arise in a simple, clear way.  If the body is out of balance, it may communicate what it needs to restore itself.  If the heart and emotions are out of balance, there will be a cleansing emotional release that leaves you feeling peaceful and reconnected.

There are many different breathing exercises for a huge variety of different results.  I will go over the Healing Breathwork practice today, which originally comes from the Rebirthing Breathwork movement.

Daily Practice:

Healing Breathwork is a three part breathing technique done through the open mouth.  Inhale ½ breath filling the low belly, ½ breath filling the upper diaphragm/chest and one long exhale, bringing the stomach in toward the back of the spine.

Lie down in a comfortable, private place.  Cover yourself with a blanket and use an eye pillow if that feels good to you.  Hold a stone or crystal in each hand, or keep your palms open.  You can listen to relaxing music or let there be silence.

Practice for 5-10 minutes everyday and allow yourself to rest in meditative trance for 10 minutes afterward.  Record any visions or ideas that come to you in your journal.

.

Remember that you are deeply loved and totally cared for by the universe.

We are all on a healing journey together.  We are here to heal ourselves, each other and the earth.  You are not alone.
